The Withings Public API allows individuals and companies—whether or not they have a Withings contract—to access data from Withings users who have consented to share their information.

Leading companies such as Weight Watchers, Lifesum, and Strava, as well as independent developers, are utilizing this API to integrate Withings data into their applications.

1. User Creates Account and Sets Up Device via Withings App

The user creates their account and configures their device through the Withings app, readying it for data collection.

2. User Grants Data Access via OAuth Web Flow

The user grants access to their health data for the partner app through the OAuth Web flow, enabling secure data sharing.

3. Device Transmits Data via WiFi or BLE

The device transmits health data securely to Withings' servers over WiFi or BLE.

4. Data is Stored in HDS/HIPAA-compliant Cloud

Data is stored securely in Withings' cloud, compliant with HDS and HIPAA standards.

5. Partner Accesses Data via API

Using the user’s access token, the partner retrieves health data through the Withings API. A real-time notification and webhook system enhances data access, keeping the partner updated with health insights.
